Who is affected

All Shopify Plus stores using checkout.liquid inside the checkout funnel

What it changes

Any tracking code placed in checkout.liquid on those three pages stops running and the funnel steps are no longer measured.

What to do

The replacement runs through customer events for measurement and checkout extensions for anything shown on screen. Putting a script back in the same place will not make it run again: the mechanism itself is gone.
